Today, I spent far longer than any normal man should trying to track down Hoover Bags for the Argos Value Range hoover that came with the apartment. I hadn’t changed or emptied the bag on it in the year since we moved in, which I didn’t think was that big a deal, but apparently it is. Anyway, this hoover is no longer sold by Argos, but I went down anyway and looked for one that looked like or comparable to the one we had and bought the bags for that one. They were the wrong bags.

So, I went on the interweb and looked for bags for the Argos CJ 718 Hoover. Found some on amazon.co.uk, the cant deliver to Ireland. I eventually found some on ebay and bought them. Seriously, it shouldn’t be that hard to find bags for a poxy hoover. Anyway, I’ve bought a pack of 5 now, and since I made the last one last a year, I’m cautiously optimistic that I wont have to buy any more in the near future.

In other news, I also successfully replaced two lightbulbs which had been broken for months so that we now have light in the kitchen again. Some wine and a few episodes of Brothers and Sisters later and that’s a wrap for Sunday

Another (scheduled) day off from training today. I’ve decided to take the recommended day off for the first week, but from next week I’m throwing in a swim on Monday, some cross training on Wendesday and some weights on Friday. SO, today was a day off and needed too because my left ankle was still quite tender after the 3 mile run yesterday.

I suspect that anyone any way sporty or fit would read this blog and think “Oh shut up and do some proper exercise, 3 miles is nothing”, and I can relate to that. When I was fit, that’s what I would think. But now, the reality is that I am fit enough to run further, but my body isn’t. And if I push it, like I have in the past, then I’ll end up injuring either my knee or my ankle or both, which will put my out of action for a few weeks.

But the ankle definitely needs some more help. I turned to the obvious person (no, not either of my physio friends), google, for some advice. I found an article on www.about.com which gave some exercises for strenthening the ankle and recommended a wobble board to build up strenght and motor responses and stuff, so off to ebay I went….
