			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I injured my  back on Sunday, and was told by Gemma (my Chiropractor) not to go to the gym yesterday. Today, in all honesty, my back was pretty much fine. My form however, not so fine! I just had a complete pig of a day and couldn&#8217;t motivate myself to go to the gym at all at all!! All was not lost, I thought, because I still had badminton training, so at least there would be some exercise. Nope. Badminton wasn&#8217;t on as there was exams on in the hall (a fact I deduced having driven the whole way into town and arrived at the door of the gym to see all the tables and chairs where I was supposed to be playing).</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t deel well with bad form and stress. My solution is usually to pig out. I say usually, which would lead you to suspect a &#8220;but this time, I&#8217;m happy to say I did not). But I did, massively, with loads of crisps and chocolate and wine and pizza and all sorts of good stuff. I must have taken on about 3000 calories in about 2 hours. And it felt GOOOOD!! At the time, not afterwards, obviously. But no training did mean I got to watch the Transormers 2 &#8211; Revenge of the Fallen which I still hadn&#8217;t gotten around to, that&#8217;s a result of sorts, right?? So after 2 days back at training, it was another 2 days off.  A poor run of form If I&#8217;m going to make the start line in October 2010!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>40 minutes, 2828 strides and 630.2 calories later and I&#8217;m done. That&#8217;s enough exercise for today for me thank you very much. Sometimes it&#8217;s hard to put into words how much you dislike something. I used to have that problem with the cross trainer, but now I&#8217;m actually starting to quite like the thing! They say that happens when you start exercising, that you end up getting a bit hooked on it. I&#8217;m hoping that&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening, I know I&#8217;ve never lasted 40 minutes full throttle on the cross trainer before, success I say!</p>
<p>After 4 days off with my cold, that&#8217;s 4 days on the trot back in the gym, and feeling a bit more like I&#8217;m actually doing some marathon training.</p>
<p>On the negative, If I&#8217;m being totally honest, my diet has totally gone to shit. I had crisp sandwiches for lunch, and ate half a white sliced pan by the time I was done this evening, and I&#8217;ve been nibbling on chocolate treats and generally getting into the Christmas Spirit. I&#8217;ve been telling myself that it&#8217;s ok, and that I can let myself go for December and then reign it in in December. I know I&#8217;m kidding myself really, but I&#8217;m managing to convince myself it&#8217;s ok, so shut up!!</p>
<p>In other news I went for a blood test (as part of my general health check) and she took about 7 litres of blood (though that may be a slight exaggeration) which I thought was a little unnecessary. My arm is still sore now, almost 12 hours later. Bitch. Orla says I&#8217;m a wuss. Bitch</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Spent all day in bed, like all day!! Went home from the radio show at about 12, had food, started bailing into my stockpile of drugs and went to bed. Got up again after 6 and spent the rest of the evening on the couch. Can&#8217;t remember the last time I had as bad a cold. Dosing myself up on 4Flu and Vitamin C with cough bottle and decongestant.</p>
<p>No training, just bed rest all day. Hoping that I&#8217;ll be able to knock it on the head today and/or tomorrow and get back to training ASAP. Worse, I&#8217;ve been treating myself for the last few days on the basis that I&#8217;ve been sick, so i&#8217;ve eaten loads of crisps/sweets/chocolate, and not been eating healthy at all. Disaster. 3 days of no exercise and 3 days of bad eating means I&#8217;ve put back on 3 or 4lbs in the few days. Shit buzz.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Disaster. Unmitigated, total and utter disaster.</p>
<p>I could just leave it there to be honest. Today&#8217;s training was a badminton match. It was against an Aer Lingus team, and we lost. Again. And worse, I played horrifically badly. Like awful. Each match I play a mens doubles and a mixed doubles. Both matches went to three sets, and in both, I threw away about 10-15 cheap points just be hitting my serve out or missing an easy shot or anything.</p>
<p>4 hours sitting around in a cold hall in Rathmines, for 20 minutes of me playing rubbish and getting no proper exercise because I didn&#8217;t play well enough to give anyone a decent game.</p>
<p>To be honest, it was still exercise, it still counts, and I could actually have taken the day off having done 3 days good training Monday to Wendesday. BUT I caved on the diet. It completely fell apart. I got some bad news, and I just fell apart and comfort ate the hell out of it! I mean, I know how hard it has been to shed 6lbs. It has taken me the guts of 8 weeks to shift them, and I&#8217;m not kidding when I say I ate enough to put back on 3 or 4 of those in one day. I had 3 or 4 packets of crisps, a big bag of jellies, a couple of bars of chocolate and a few other bits and pieces, and I didn&#8217;t have proper lunch or dinner&#8230;It&#8217;s the undoing of me it really is. When I get down, I start eating junk food at a rate that is truly shocking, and I don&#8217;t even feel any better after it because I feel down that I&#8217;ve taken a step backwards.</p>
<p>Safe to say that today wasn&#8217;t a good day. In fact, of the 30, it was the worse one I&#8217;ve have. Even the 1st day where I just ate custard creams was probably better for my marathon training than today.</p>
<p>Disaster&#8230;..<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If yesterday went bad, then today was an absolute disaster!! I didn&#8217;t do a thing, not a single thing, BUT, I have a good excuse&#8230;.well, I have an excuse!</p>
<p>Today was the Cheerios Childline concert, and a good opportunity for us to get some good interviews with some big celebrities for the radio show, so myself and Rory headed down to the O2 in Dublin and had to be there for 1 O&#8217;Clock. I didn&#8217;t get out untl after 6, and then had to go back to spin, edit the interviews and stuff and head home. I got home about 5 minutes before the kick off of the Big Ireland v. France match (boo hiss, more on that elsewhere) and after the match went straight to bed! I did contemplate going to the gym instead of going to the match, but decided against it, and gladly so in the end.</p>
<p>The only positive I can think of from the whole day is the fact that I would have killed for a load of sweets/chocolate/crisps when the match went to extra time, but there was literally none to be had in the whole apartment&#8230;.and I looked everywhere hoping to find some forgotten hidden treasure.</p>
<p>I hate skipping a days training, but sometimes the days just don&#8217;t allow for it. In fact I was feeling a bit of a pain in my leg anyway, so it was probably best not to do anything yesterday.</p>
<p>I just checked back through the marathon training section of the website, and that&#8217;s the first complete day of no training I&#8217;ve had in 9 days, so hey, I&#8217;m human, it&#8217;s all good in the hood.</p>
<p>Back to the training tomorrow though, game on!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Today&#8217;s training involved a long walk with adorable uber-dog Tara around the park in Shankhll and a 5K cycle on one of those sit down bike thingies. In fact, now just any sit down bike thingy, this one here&#8230;.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not 100% sure what the idea behing the sit down bike thingy is, but I&#8217;ve started using it on the assumption that it is better for your back, because of the back support. I&#8217;m not sure how far I adjust the seat, or how straight or otherwise the legs are supposed to be, but no matter. I only cycled for 20 minutes, travelled a hypothetical 5 kilometers, and sweat about a litre of water. I like training in the gym, because you can see exactly how far you&#8217;ve gone and how long you&#8217;ve been going etc, but the one bit of information I wish they would leave off exercise machines is how may calories you have burned. It&#8217;s always less than you think you should have, and in my case almost always less calaries and a mar of chocolate. Which means, the chocolate I eat later (it is Halloween after all) will undo all my hard work earlier in less than 2 bites, I having burned off the princely amount of 235 calories on the bike.</p>
<p>The more I think about it, the less sure I am that this marathon thing is such a good idea. Still, it&#8217;s only day 5, there&#8217;s still 360 to go&#8230;.</p>
