Marathon Training – Day 5
Today’s training involved a long walk with adorable uber-dog Tara around the park in Shankhll and a 5K cycle on one of those sit down bike thingies. In fact, now just any sit down bike thingy, this one here….
I’m not 100% sure what the idea behing the sit down bike thingy is, but I’ve started using it on the assumption that it is better for your back, because of the back support. I’m not sure how far I adjust the seat, or how straight or otherwise the legs are supposed to be, but no matter. I only cycled for 20 minutes, travelled a hypothetical 5 kilometers, and sweat about a litre of water. I like training in the gym, because you can see exactly how far you’ve gone and how long you’ve been going etc, but the one bit of information I wish they would leave off exercise machines is how may calories you have burned. It’s always less than you think you should have, and in my case almost always less calaries and a mar of chocolate. Which means, the chocolate I eat later (it is Halloween after all) will undo all my hard work earlier in less than 2 bites, I having burned off the princely amount of 235 calories on the bike.
The more I think about it, the less sure I am that this marathon thing is such a good idea. Still, it’s only day 5, there’s still 360 to go….

There goes my good work in the gym, just like that....
